Job opening: Senior Analyst on China

Hybrid CoE is recruiting a Senior Analyst for its Research and Analysis team to lead its work on China.

Within Hybrid CoE, senior analysts and analysts undertake policy-focused work that supports government practitioners in the Centre’s Participating States in understanding and responding to the challenges posed by hybrid threats. This includes conducting and writing original analyses, commissioning and managing analytical projects, and presenting Hybrid CoE’s work at conferences and webinars.

The Senior Analyst position is a key role in relation to Hybrid CoE’s work on China and includes tasks related to planning and coordinating this work. This is a highly autonomous senior-level expert position comprising responsibilities across the Centre.

The successful applicant should hold a suitable PhD combined with at least two years of analytical experience, or a master’s degree combined with at least five years of analytical/research experience in International Relations, Political Science, Economics, Intelligence, Asian Studies, or a related field. The applicant should have Mandarin Chinese language skills at B2 level or higher in order to read and analyze original texts. A proven track record demonstrating strong writing abilities and excellent analytical and research skills is required. Extensive previous experience of similar tasks is expected, preferably in government, a think tank, a research institution, or the broader field of international relations. Applicants should also have an existing network of contacts across academia, research institutes, and/or government practitioners in the Euro-Atlantic region. Professional working proficiency in English (the working language at the Centre) is a prerequisite for the role, and all applications should be written in English. Applicants should be citizens of one of Hybrid CoE’s Participating States and willing to undergo a security clearance process.

The salary range for the position, based on a fixed-term contract of four years, is €4,500–5,200 per month.
