Hybrid CoE´s COI Strategy and Defence (COI S&D) in joint effort with Geospatial World Forum and UNICRIcontributed to the “Stepping up Cybersecurity and using Geospatial & AI: Lessons learned during Lockdown” webinar on Ascension Day.
Artificial intelligence will be increasingly utilized to process and understand data, while automatization and digitalization will continue to accelerate in the future. Cyber Space is an unfathomable, never-ending space for information acquisition. During the global lockdown a rising number of cyber attacks have been observed disclosing the emergence of cyber as a new domain in the security environment. Furthermore, it has deep connections to information security.
“All political and military conflicts have a cyber dimension. Cyber power has become the main enabler for future technologies and hybrid campaigns. From these cyber attacks are increasingly prevalent” concluded Dr. Josef Schröfl, the Deputy Director of COI S&D in the webinar.
Over 150 participants from 100 different countries, including attendants from 14 Hybrid CoE’s participating states, joined the global discussion. Topics ranged from cybersecurity and crisis mechanisms, the role of artificial intelligence in law enforce, surveillance and tracking mechanisms during the COVID-19 pandemic to the implications of emergent technologies and cyber power on security and defence.
